  • Ultima makes record attempt at Nürburgring – Today

For anyone with a little spare time on their hands and willing to keep an eye on the Nurburgring Webcam, you might like to watch Ultima’s attempt on the outright road-car lap record. They are busy preparing the car in the paddock just now, so sometime later this morning there will be a red Ultima GTR being driven with commitment.

Good luck guys.

i wont be betting against it. IIRC it was about 10secs faster around the top gear track when they did the unofficial lap.

    Good Luck ULTIMA….

Apparently it didn’t even last the lap – the engine lunched itself at Steilstreke i.e. 3/4 of the way into the lap……..

The GTR didnt lunch its engine

From Richard From Ultima GTR factory
“The engine didn’t lunch itself, we have not run the car today, the fan belt did get stone trapped in it yesterday during testing taking the belt off with it. But engine and car in perfect order no damage done.”

There hoping for a Friday run

Stone in the fan belt or something put a stop to their record attempt, then no more track time available so they had to give up…they’ll be gutted going all that way.

They ended up not running because it rained them out, so no records yet – they did get 220mph out of it on the way home on the autobahn though!
