  • Second Lambo teaser pic

So, the second detail shot of the new Lambo has just arrived, and I’m feeling pretty pleased about my non-SV guess. Stuff to conclude from this shot:

1) The bonnet line is higher than any Gallardo or Murci

2) It is running P Zero Rossos, which certainly aren’t your super-sticky SV rubber

3) The tyres are also relatively high-profile

4) It doesn’t have ceramic discs -surely an SV would have them. And the brakes don’t look that big.

5) It has an air intake on the front wing, not too common on a mid-engined supercar!

Please ridicule/agree/disagree as you see fit!

    Competition for the Panamera?

Maybe not as large considering how small those discs look.

The lines look to me to point towards something taller than the Gallardo or Murcielago.

Surely it won’t be the V12 though.

@ door, front engined, V10 coupe. A salon wouldn’t have a nose like that.

    Hmmm,

I’m going with the Espada line of thought. I can picture the thing in my head, if only I had the talent to draw it, I reckon I would be close to the finished article.
I think it will have a ‘shooting-brake’ style rear on it, I’m going for front mid-mounted V10 2+2 with 2 doors and a re-worked Quattro system, let’s not forget the breathed over Audi 4.2 V8 entry model. Range topper will be a re-worked de-tuned V12. I wouldn’t be suprised if it has some kind of ‘eco’ feature, dual fuel ect. and if they are going in the direction I think, it will have a glass roof, very much like the forthcoming Rapide. Wil be interested to see….or I could be way off the mark and this is actually a front engined two seat convertible seen as an entry model for Lamborghini…a little too much carbon going on for that though??

looks to me like it might be a tourer. something to compete against the 599 or 612… i wouldnt no much about the engine but those brakes dont look like supercar material and im thinkin it might not be a super fast lambo. I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT

Looks like a rival to the new Ferrari California – A ‘baby’ tourer perhaps, with a hint of Espada at the rear for nostalgia and practicality.

The Espada concept is the one making sense for me as well.I ve seen a design concept over the net some time ago which i almost immediately related to the pic.Maybe this can help:http://www.edmunds.com/media/il/features/future/09.lamborghini.espada/09.lambo.espada.6.500.jpg

Karim, you’re right those brakes don’t look all that big. Then again, they could be standard Gallardo discs and calipers set within some big old 22in rims. If only we could see the tyre size on the sidewall. Grrr….
Kermit, that slim vent set in the front wing suggests a front engine to me, although there’s nothing to say it couldn’t be front-mid is there?
Whatever, I’d love to see a four-seat, front-engined V12 Lambo to challenge the forthcoming Aston Rapide and Porsche Panamera as they’ll surely be fascinating cars to drive as well as to look at.
Such cars might not make that much sense, at least to us -especially in the current turbulent economic times- but the Russian and Chinese markets are growing by the day, and it is well documented that wealthy customers in both countries prefer to sit in the back to driving, as it is a sign of wealth and status.
If big four-seater supercars do catch on, how cool would it be to see a modern day Facel Vega, clothed in some really slinky bodywork and powered by the new Corvette ZR1 motor?

It’s a new four door and its called the urus apparently.

the thing is, what platform will it be on, not some “engine stuck too far out front” audi thing surely?

I think that the picture shows the rear right wheel of the new REAR ENGINED Lambo. The left hand side of the photo clearly shows a 911-esque sloping tail and a carbon diffuser. The disc is a small diameter because it is for the rear wheel. I expect it will be largely based on the 911, as Porsche owns VAG, of which Lambo is part.

I still reckon it’ll be front engined Espada type thing. That carbon bit looks more like a chin spoiler to me, and the crease lines in the bodywork would look wrong if that was the tail rather than the nose.
That vent also knocks the Murcielago SV rumour on the head, as the Murci’s door shutline should be right up close to the wheelarch. Hopefully it’ll be a front-mid V12-engined Ferrari 612/Porsche Panamera rival, only with styling you don’t have to make excuses for…

It’s clearly not a new murci, or a murci special edition, or even a new rear engined lambo (I take it you were joking with that one)

It’s going to be the “new espada”, or a similar front engined 4 seater, but, interestingly, didn’t Lambo publically say after the failed Miura concept that they “didn’t do retrospective” and that future designs would be forward thinking and not re-creations of past glories?

Well I’m sticking with what I said (& hope for!) on the other thread:

4 seat modern day Espada. It makes business sense in every way, the market is clearly there (reduced sales of CGT’s notwithstanding) and Lambo is a marque on the up. Its the one market they don’t occupy where they may lose sales to Ferrari, Aston, Bentley et al and they have a history of producing cars in this sector (grand GT!).

So, now thats decided, here’s the spec:

Gallardo V10, tuned for slightly different characteristics than the LP560. Lets say 540bhp / 410lb ft ish….

I think they’ll hold off on a V12 till the new engine comes online – maybe it’ll make its debut in this model before the feral version finds its way into the Murcie successor?

Slightly smaller than 612, but with more cab-forward proportions (the pic gives that away, but it is Lambo design language)

    (Hopefully!) Somewhere around 1600kg

Full auto (as found in RS6) and/or E-Gear (or Bull-shift as I like to call it). Cant see a market for manual.

    190mph / 4.2secs 0-60, the V12 will crack 200mph when it appears
