  • Third teaser Lambo pic

Here’s the latest Lamborghini teaser image. It clearly shows a ‘boot’ shutline, so it looks like the front-engine theorists were correct. So now I suppose we’re left to discuss: V12 or V10, front-engined GT or 4-door saloon? We’ll have the full details of the mystery Lamborghini, including images at 21.00 GMT on October 1st.

If this ends up being a completely new model in the Lamborghini line-up, how on earth have the been able to keep it secret???
Any chance they could have used a chassis/engine from Audi (RS6) to build a front engined GT or saloon?

According to Automotive News, it is the concept for a planned 4-door Panamera and Rapide rival. Allegedly, it may be based on the platform of the next Audi A8 and the engine used may actually be smaller than the Gallardo’s V10 in order to keep the car relatively short.

Doubt Porsche will want an in-family rival for the Panamera? Surely if it is a four-door it’ll be considerably more expensive?

And would Lamborghini build a car sharing a platform with such a compromised layout – i.e the entire engine ahead of the front axle? I’d be surprised. ‘Platform sharing’ is all very well, but when your rivals are cars like the Ferrari 612 or Rapide (which both have great weight distribution), then a nose heavy car surely wouldn’t cut-it in a Lamborghini line-up?

Well I’m sticking with what I said (& hope for!) on the other threads:

4 seat modern day Espada. It makes business sense in every way, the market is clearly there (reduced sales of CGT’s notwithstanding) and Lambo is a marque on the up. Its the one market they don’t occupy where they may lose sales to Ferrari, Aston, Bentley et al and they have a history of producing cars in this sector (grand GT!).

So, now thats decided, here’s the spec:

Gallardo V10, tuned for slightly different characteristics than the LP560. Lets say 540bhp / 410lb ft ish….

I think they’ll hold off on a V12 till the new engine comes online – maybe it’ll make its debut in this model before the feral version finds its way into the Murcie successor?

Slightly smaller than 612, but with more cab-forward proportions (the pic gives that away, but it is Lambo design language)

    (Hopefully!) Somewhere around 1600kg

Full auto (as found in RS6) and/or E-Gear (or Bull-shift as I like to call it). Cant see a market for manual.

    190mph / 4.2secs 0-60, the V12 will crack 200mph when it appears

Mr Bovingdon. that was exactly my thought.

Having never driven an RS4 or R8 (and it won’t be based on either of them), I haven’t ever driven an audi that can handle a4, a6 and a8 included, so what are they going to do? VAG platforms have poor weight distribution, bentleys included.

I do hope they don’t call it that, a slight mis-pronunciation and all credibility will surely be lost. :)

Think I’ll stick my neck out and say it won’t be called the Urus – despite the bull fighting connotations. For exactly the reasons Steve raises.

What’s wrong with reviving the Espada name? Sounds pretty cool to me.

They won’t use the Espada name for precisely the reason the miura concept didn’t go anywhere surely. As i posted against an earlier teaser pic, lambo have said that they “don’t do retrospective”

i still think its a 4 door though, just a modern, non espada named, 4 door.

and it’ll probably weigh about 2 tons, VAG don’t seem to give 2 hoots about weight

If Rover can turn a FWD 75 into a RWD 260, then surely VAG can get another use out of the A8 platform.
