December 18, 2008As an engineering student, here in Italy, i’m working on a Eco-Marathon vehicle, a prototype built with the only objective to save fuel.
In terms of driving pleasure is nonsense, of course, but the technological challenge is really really intresting.
Take a look at our prototype in our site, or at similar ones in the Eco Marathon website. The focus on extreme lightness, excellent aerodinamic shape and use of advanced technologies (waste of carbonfiber, fuel cells) make the best vehicles of this category really stunning projects. They can achieve more than 3000km/l!(7000mpg!)
In 2009 there will be two races, the european one, in Germany, and one also in the Uk.I recommend to you to attend to one of those events.
I’m sorry for my bad english, keep up your great great work (I don’t miss a single word written here in DR!),

December 18, 2008Hi Marco,
Your Eco-Marathon project sounds pretty cool. When you’ve built a car that achieves 7000mpg AND does large oversteer slides bring it to DR and we’ll have a drive!
Seriously, if you are attending the UK event please let us know as it would be good to see the cars in, er, ‘action’. Perhaps a few DR stickers would make your car that bit more competitive…

December 21, 2008Chris, fancy not knowing that a car uses more fuel idling than on the overun – pretty much the first time I have known something about cars which you didn’t!
I’d have liked to see how the car had to be driven to achieve 34 mpg. He never told us what the most economical cruising speed was, and I would like to see what rate of acceleration is most economical, and particularly what speed to drive up hills for economy.
When you had the M3, did you ever notice the gearchange indicator?
