Ayrton Senna’s Heel-and-toe at Suzuka

“I saw this video last night, and it’s still on my mind this morning. Check out how Senna pedals (if that’s the right verb…) through the 130R. I’ve never even thought of doing that, let alone seen anyone doing it.” – Chris Ratcliff

That’s almost rally style with rapid multiple throttle applications rather than fewer big inputs – odd and I don’t understand the logic, but it is certainly effective!

That’s how Senna always drove in F1, I guess he just transferred the technique to road cars too. Probably started in the early turbo days when he was trying to avoid turbo lag by keeping the turbo spinning by constantly giving small throttle jabs like that.

And all in leather brogues too… nice!

It does look alarmingly like he hits the limiter in top at one point though…. and it doesn’t look as though it were restricted either!!
