  • Geneva Auto Salon – tell us what you'd like to know

It’s less than a week until the press days of the Geneva Motor Show and DR will be there in force. We’ve also got a few plans up our sleeve on how to deliver a fresher, pithier way of enjoying the hot stories and unique atmosphere from Europe’s most glamorous metal-fest.

While it’s bound to be a bit eco-centric, there’s sure to be some fabulous cars to make your heart beat faster: Lambo’s rumoured Murcielago Superleggera, Aston’s V12 Vantage, the new Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, Renault’s Megane RS and the Porsche’s Gen.2 997 GT3 are just a few of the highlights. Oh, and for as long as there are stars in the sky, there will be pretty ladies on the Alfa Romeo stand.

Throw in a handful of grotesquely modified supercars and the inevitable low-volume, hand-built sports car no one’s ever heard of (or likely to see again) and you’ve got the complete Geneva Auto Salon experience.

We’re there to explore it all on your behalf, so if there’s anything you’d like to see, or questions you’d like us to ask, be sure to let us know.

For further insight into which new cars are being shown at Geneva this year, check out the link below;

Ferrari for the F430 replacement please (and maybe F599). If you need an added incentive I reckon they’ll have the best looking girls!

Oh and Steve, let me know what you think of PAS in the metal. Cheers

Pretty certain the 430 replacement won’t be seen before Frankfurt. More details and pics of the 599 HGTE please?

Would be very interested to see in details the Megane R26-R – Front Calipers/Discs what size are they? Are they sticking with the one piece Brembo calliper, or going for a 2 piece 4-pot? Also would be interested in seeing if there is any brake ducting this time.

What about Exhaust system – are they still going to offer the silly titanium system? or just a lighter stainless system?

    Thanks,

    /y0z

How about DR publishing the first decent photo of the GT3′s awesome new 3.8 litre flat-six boxer dry-sumped masterpiece, confirming its GT1-derived heritage…

…although you may need to get on the floor for the perfect camera angle!

Please, right now all this shows doesn´t matter much because actually there are no new cars but new-restyled cars. so, it means they don´t have the money to develop a propper new car. you didn´t notice how many “restyling” there is in all brands?.
when i buy a car i want to know that is the best they can offer, that is the best tech. they offer. (examples on F430, porsche 997-2, lambo 20reventon-muercielago and new 650-4, and so on, they just reystiling every car!!!, and the people who bought the old model didn´t feel cheated?
Sorry but all this new cars are just for fill an imaginary gap.
hopefully soon we will enjoy on authentic NEW cars.
even then my dream will be an F40.
    bests wishes for everyone.

@Javi – Most cars like the ones you mention I reckon are at their best when delivered, obviously 1 or 2 years later there’s more technology, and another way of doing things, so updated versions of those cars make sense. I mean Porsche has been doing it a lifetime now with the 911 and it works..

@Steve Perhaps discovering something more about that special Ferrari 599, not the HGTE, the 599XX.
I’m making plans to go to Geneva, hopefully I’ll be able to go, if not I hope you guys provide the best info and photos.
    Cheers.

Just posted a link to pics of the 599XX in the Ferrari V12 group. Looks to have an interesting design of brakes amongst other things

@daytonafan – Not sure I would call it beautiful but it certainly looks aggressive. Looks like Ferrari are trying a little too hard to borrow design features from the F1 car..

I will take a better look tomorrow and bring back some more details.

@IanF – Ian, I had a good look at BMW’s new PAS model and it looked ‘OK’.

It resembles the X6, but in a more elegant and less brutal profile. It appears to be a very similar length to the 5-series, although I understand it is slightly longer.

If you put any personal bias aside then there’s nothing really to criticise it for – it looks like a fastback/hatchback evolution of the 5-series, it has the familiar dynamic stance of a BMW and looks both elegant and powerful. The boot is huge (so plenty of space for at least three golf bags) and the passenger compartment is more compact than a 7-series but also more stylish. It’s a nice place to be and would be a great place to travel. The current concept model has just two bucketed seats in the rear and kitted out with plenty of indulgent toys.

I would personally choose the PAS to BMW’s regular 5-series saloon, but I wouldn’t buy one. I would still choose an X6, which is more usable and suits the way I use a family car, but if anyone is considering the PAS then there is nothing from what I saw that should dissuade you from your interest.

Looks like an interesting model and miles away from the love-it-or-hate-it looks of the Mercedes R-class.

Auto shows today seem a little less competitive, consideration the duplication of designs and the lack of finances by customers to purchase new cars. The new cars are superb in their own right.
