It is often necessary to read between the lines of a press release, interpreting what a manufacturer is implying about their latest model or concept design, but Brabus have saved us the effort with the SV12 R..

The Fastest and Most Powerful Office on Wheels in the World – Brabus SV12 R with 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW, 1,350 Nm (995 lb-ft) and 340 km/h (211 mph)

Based on the latest Mercedes S 600 facelift model, the SV12 R is powered by a BRABUS biturbo 750 12-cylinder engine, increased in capacity to 6.3 litres from the standard 5.5 litres and now producing 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW and a peak torque of 1,350 Nm (995 lb-ft).

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission, but an optional Brabus locking differential can be specified to optimise traction. Yes please.

The Brabus engineers spent time in the wind tunnel developing the SV12 R’s aerodynamic profile including a new front apron which reduces lift on the front axle, but it wouldn’t be Brabus if they didn’t go a little over the top so they have developed custom-made front aluminum wings that replace their production originals. An air vent made from clear-coated carbon is added and a horizontal brace is placed across this vent embossed with the Brabus signet and combined with integrated LED lights. These lights are activated via the keyless remote or by pulling on a door handle.

The underside of the new rear apron also feature integrated LED lights which illuminate the ground behind the vehicle, Brabus say that this helps the owner avoid puddles of potholes lurking in the dark, but we can’t help feeling this may be a step too far..

The enormous performance of the SV12 R is kept safely under control with custom-made solutions for tyres, brakes and suspension. They include 21″ BRABUS Monoblock light-alloy wheels fitted with 265/30 ZR 21 tyres on the front and 295/30 ZR 21 on the rear.

The SV12 R comes equipped with the kind of useful functions than any self-respecting uber-businessman would expect – an ultra-slim 3-GHz notebook computer housed safely in a docking station inside an electrically deployed drawer in the trunk, a 15.2-inch 16:9 TFT screen which serves as computer monitor plus a printer which is housed in a custom-developed console located between the rear seats.

Prices have yet to be announced for this ultimate of executive saloons, but expect it to be just as mighty as the rest of the car. More details will be available next week at Frankfurt.
