Fisker Karma lapping Laguna Seca

Yesterday [22-Sep-2009] Fisker Automotive and the U.S. Department of Energy agreed to terms for a conditional loan of more than half a billion dollars to create affordable, fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid electric cars, made in the U.S.A.

It seems timely therefore to pay more attention to the way these cars drive, and this video of Fisker’s Karma lapping Laguna Seca provides quite a interesting perspective.

It would stretching credibility to describe its sound as appealing, but it’s better than I had hoped for. Have a listen..

The car may sound like a giant supercharger, but what is that video supposed to be showing? We know electric motors can make a car go forward. Why make a fuss and showcase a car on track if it’s going to be driven around like it’s chauffeuring the queen to her next gala dinner? Is it prove it can go 2.2 miles without recharging? Because it’s certainly not to prove it’s performance!
