When we first heard of Land Rover’s intention to fit a more powerful supercharged V8 engine to the Range Rover Sport we began to question their wisdom in these environmentally-conscious times. After all, why develop a model that’s as popular as Jeremy Clarkson at a Greenpeace convention?
Well we like absurdity here at SkiddMark, so despite their customer’s preference for the TDV8 models in the UK, Land Rover are determined to provide reasons why their upgraded 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged model should still feature on our wish lists.
The all-new supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine now offers 503bhp and a brutal 461lb ft of torque with a claimed combined fuel economy of 19mpg. The six-speed automatic gearbox has been updated and there’s also the option of wheel-mounted paddle shifters and 19″ front brakes. According to Land Rover, the new Range Rover Sport Supercharged has lapped a dry Nurburgring in just 8min 49sec (when fitted with standard road tyres).
