TAG Heuer Meridiist Lamborghini Mobile Phone

You can usually tell when a product is not your thing when you either have trouble pronouncing it, or understanding what it actually is. The press release arrived this morning containing the following introduction:

“Inspired by the power and grace of the mythic Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640, TAG Heuer, the world leader in luxury sports watches and chronographs, has teamed up with the famous Italian super sports car manufacturer to create the limited-edition MERIDIIST Automobili Lamborghini communication instrument.”

What you need to know about this communication instrument (often known as a ‘mobile phone’) is that the TAG Heuer Meridiist Lamborghini Mobile Phone features a case made from black titanium carbide coated 316L stainless steel, calfskin leather, and 60.5 carats of sapphire crystal glass on its dual display screens plus Automobili Lamborghini ON & OFF animations, sounds and wallpapers. Just 1,963 of the TAG Heuer Meridiist Lamborghini Mobile Phones will be made – the number representing the year the company was founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini.

The phone’s design references the Lamborghini Murcielago down to its signature on the battery cover, apeing the one seen on the Murcielago LP 640′s V12 engine block. The back of the device is engraved with its limited edition number while the minimalist black keyboard is customized with Automobili Lamborghini’s trademark Taurus bull on the steel central button.

The Meridiist comes with a 2 megapixel camera, a battery that will give you up to 28 days standby time and up to 7 hours of talk time, video recording and playback, plus support for MP3 files, on top of that it comes with 2GB of storage and USB 1.0 support so you can connect it to your PC. It measures 112mm x 46mm x 15.5mm and weighs 160g.

No prices have been announced yet, but we have it on good authority that it will set you back less than Lamborghini’s Reventon Roadster. Just.

TAGs, I don’t get a great vibe from them. Much rather have a Seiko or IWC.

Okay, I’d really rather have a Jeager, Zenith, or Lange.

I’m a Breitling, IWC fan myself although a Tag Heuer Monaco is pretty high on my wish list too.

I have never understood these glamour phones – I am looking for functionality and technology in a phone, not looks.

Besides this TAG Heuer Meridiist lacks 3G and Wi-Fi, which are essentials in modern communication instruments… err, I mean phones.
