Tiger Woods injured in car crash

American newswires were reporting that Tiger Woods had been ‘seriously’ injured in a car accident earlier this morning, but the details released by Florida Highway Patrol seem to contradict this.

Apparently the PGA star hit a fire hydrant and then a tree as he pulled out of his driveway in Isleworth, near Orlando, at 2:25am this morning. He was driving his 2009 Cadillac Escalade and Florida Highway Patrol have confirmed that the airbags in the Escalade didn’t deploy, which means he was travelling at less than 35 mph.

The highway patrol said the crash was still under investigation, and charges were pending, but added that the crash was not alcohol-related.

Latest reports now state that he has been released from hospital after being treated for facial injuries, so perhaps the publicity machines got a little ahead of themselves with those initial reports.

Weird eh?

I have added a few picturesabove of Tiger’s Escalade which show the extent of the damage.

If you’ve been following this story them you’ll realise it’s become a media frenzy with different versions of the truth being presented almost at whim.

The story seems to have started with news of a serious accident that turns out not to be serious.

Facial lacerations that were alleged to be due to a fight with his wife rather than anything to do with the accident.

Rumours that Mrs Woods was arguing with Tiger after accusing him of an affair, then chased him with a golf iron which she smashed into the rear window of the Escalade causing him to crash.

Then Tiger claiming that all these stories are malicous and unfounded and now the Police have requested Tiger’s medical reports to confirm if the prescription drugs he was taking for pain relief were in any way a cause of the accident.

I blame the blinged-up Escalade, if he’d been driving something more innocuous then nobody would have even noticed.. :)

Check back in a few months and we might actually find out the truth.. ;)
