Supercar owners seem to be falling over themselves (literally) to demonstrate that money and talent aren’t the most natural of bedfellows. This time we see a video of two Ferrari California owners showing-off to the locals in Sofia, Bulgaria until one of them gets it wrong.
We understand that the driver was unhurt, however the damage inflicted on the California will require a little more work to fix.
Demand for the Ferrari California has been strong, with waiting lists extending between 2-3 years, so let’s hope this one manages to get fixed and the driver learns that showing off on a busy public road is neither clever nor worth the risk.

November 16, 2009The repercussions may not stop at a heavy repair bill. According to the Autoindex for NE, It would appear to be a company car. It’s registered to tobacco company Philip Morris Products SA.

November 16, 2009Greg, I guess that depends on whether the driver is an employee of Philip Morris or perhaps the son of a key director.
There was a certain degree of reckless abandon in the way he (I assume it was a he) was driving, as if the consequences of an off were unlikely to matter.
It never ceases to annoy me to see cars that other (less fortunate) people would cherish, being driven like some hire car.
Step 1 – learn to drive it properly, Step 2 – take it on a track if you’d like to show what a hero you are (or are not).

Seems like there are a growing number of people with more money than brain cells. These people need to learn that nothing good ever comes from showing off in built up areas, it will always end in tears or worse!

November 16, 2009Coincidentally I came across another video that shows Ferrari Chairman Luca Montezemolo losing control of a Ferrari California at a recent Ferrari World event. Fernando Alonso and Felippe Massa were in the rear seat when it happened.
Oh dear, maybe there’s something inherently tricky about these cars – we should be told!!

Yes, because you never know when you’ll crash through a Nissan dealer.
