Justin Timberlake teases with the Audi A1

Over the next few months you will see (and hear) a lot about Audi’s forthcoming A1 model. Audi make the bold claim of saying they will be “..the first manufacturer to offer a premium car in the sub-compact segment when it launches the Audi A1″, going on to say that “..a young target group will experience new standards of quality, technology, and design.”

Perhaps they have conveniently forgotten about the Mini, since it is BMW’s success in the small-premium sector that has inspired Audi to create the A1 after they ceased production of the A2 in 2005.

Audi are going all out on their pre-launch campaign to raise the profile of the A1, by bringing on board celebrity performer Justin Timberlake as its new brand ambassador in 2010.

“Audi has always been at the forefront of engineering and technology“, says Timberlake, “and I am very excited to be a part of the next evolution conscience with Audi and the A1″.

A spokesperson for Audi said, “As a superstar he appeals to a young target audience that we’re particularly intent on exciting about the compact and efficient A1, which is superlatively well suited for city traffic.”

The undisguised A1 pictured with Timberlake is not the only version that Audi will sell. The A1 will be also offered in Sportback, Cabriolet and Crossover configurations. The A1 will premiere on-line in February 2010, before being shown at the Geneva Motorshow in March 2010.

I really think these are going to sell very well. They have just about every segment covered at this point.
