It’s not every day you get to see a brand new Jaguar achieve 165 mph on an airport runway, but that’s exactly what happened when Jaguar’s XKR-S made its debut at the Race the Runway charity event organised by The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.
Held at Edinburgh Airport the event saw 32 cars compete in drag races along a 1,800-metre runway. The 542 bhp XKR-S beat off fierce competition to make it to the semi-final, achieving rest to 100 mph in just over eight seconds before being measured reaching a terminal speed of 165 mph.
Now in its third year, Race the Runway has so far raised over £40,000, with this year’s event contributing a further £11,000 for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and the Scottish Burned Children’s Club. Joining the XKR-S and the XKR in the line up of vehicles was an XFR, also making its Scottish debut.
