Jaguar’s C-X16 concept made its North American debut this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show, finished in a new colour called Neutron White.
Photographed in downtown LA, on Mesquit and Matteo Streets and against the evening skyline on East 6th Street Bridge, these are some of the first on-road pictures we’ve seen of Jaguar’s hybrid ‘One plus One’ sports car.
The C-X16 is powered by a prototype hybrid powertrain producing 375 bhp and 332lb ft (450Nm) of torque from its supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. Allied to an electric motor producing an additional equivalent to 95 bhp and 173lb ft, the C-X16 drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission.
Performance is suitably brisk with a top speed of 186mph, 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds and 50-75mph in-gear acceleration of 2.1 seconds, but the really special figures are the ones relating to the C-X16’s consumption and emissions – 41mpg together with CO2 emissions of 165g/km are unparalleled in the sector and the C-X16 can even travel in zero emissions mode at up to 50mph.
It’s nigh on impossible to choose a favourite image from the LA photo shoot, so I’ve also added a gallery of smaller images for you to gawp at. Have a great weekend and don’t be surprised if you dream of cats.
