BMW’s Pebble Beach surprise is… a roadster version of the Zagato Coupé

The BMW Zagato Concept which will make its world debut at the Pebble Beach Concours this coming weekend looks like being an open-top version of the Zagato Coupé which was shown at the Villa d’Este Concours in Italy during May.

Based on the wording used in BMW’s press release we’d imagined something slightly more radical, but the image above is still partly disguised, so perhaps there’ll still be a surprise in store.

The Zagato Concept is the second time BMW and Zagato have collaborated on a car this year and will join the 40th anniversary celebrations of BMW’s M division at several events across the weekend including Pebble Beach Concours, Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and Legends of the Autobahn.

Also on show for the first time in the North America will be the legendary 550bhp V12-engined M8 Prototype, which never reached production plus a host of BMW’s most sporting models including the M5 Saloon, M6 Coupe, 532bhp ALPINA B7, 650i Gran Coupe and the 2013 7 Series.

We’ll bring you further details and images of the Zagato Concept when we receive them.

There’s no surprise in store. Look at Bimmerpost’s article. It’s clear that’s just a zagato coupe with its roof removed –

    • You’re quite right, seems baffling why BMW even bothered to tease.

That Bimmerpost thread has some great photos of the M8. If only…
