It’s a bit of an oldie this one, as you’ll note by the use of Ken Block’s former Ford Focus WRC. Block took to a snowy stage in Igora Park, Russia, to demonstrate Pirelli’s latest studded competition tyre and show off GoPro’s new HD HERO2 cameras.
His mission, which he showed little hesitation in accepting, is one of destruction as he battles the elements, races rogue skiers and tries to take out as many cameras as he can!”
The video, shot close to St Petersburg in Russia, was released by GoPro, but there’s also a (more sensible) Pirelli version below. While GoPro’s promo is an amped up joyride captured from a dozen angles, Pirelli seeks to demonstrate how the right tyre can make the difference on some of the world’s most treacherous surfaces.
The backing track for GoPro’s video is “Android Porn” by Kraddy, which perhaps tells you all you need to know about the differences between a conventional brand and one which has redefined the concept of viral marketing.
The Focus WRC was fitted on the outside with Pirelli’s studded Winter Sottozero tyres, on the inside with GoPro’s HD HERO2 cameras and of course the nut behind the wheel is Block himself. Enjoy.
