McLaren announce a new team and race schedule for its MP4-12C GT3

McLaren GT is the name of the new company which brings together the expertise of McLaren Racing, McLaren Automotive and CRS Racing, and the team got down to business today when it unveiled its GT3 car and plans for a 2011 development programme which will see Andrew Kirkaldy, Oliver Turvey and Álvaro Parente race the 12C GT3 in 2011.

Up until now we’ve only seen an artist’s impression of the McLaren’s MP4-12C GT3, so it comes as a rather pleasant surprise to find that the real thing looks even better in the metal. This is the car that marks McLaren’s return to GT racing since the Le Mans winning F1 GTR, which dominated endurance racing between 1995 and 1998.

Filipe Albuquerque crowned Champion of Champions

Filipe Albuquerque delivered a thrilling performance to eclipse 15 superstars of motorsport and win The Race of Champions individual drivers competition at his first attempt on an exciting afternoon in Düsseldorf.

In front of a packed ESPRIT arena the Portuguese driver overcame World Rally champion Sébastien Loeb 2-1 in the best-of-three Grand Final on the specially-constructed parallel track to earn the title of Champion of Champions.
