Honda to withdraw from F1

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but the catastrophic collapse in global car sales looks to have claimed its first high-profile scalp in the world of motorsport.

Honda looks set to announce the sale of its Formula One team early on Friday morning, and the suggestion is that if no buyer is found, the team will close before the beginning of the 2009 season, leaving Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello without a drive in F1.
