Ford have launched a microsite for a new Focus RS500 featuring a countdown timer that currently stands at ‘5 Days’, sporting the title ‘Ford Focus RS – The Story Continues’.
The details are scarce to say the least, but we know that Ford have provided the Focus RS500 with more power, some eye-catching new styling (as if the Focus RS wasn’t already eye-catching enough!) and that it will be a strictly ‘imited-edition’ model.
The following is as yet unconfirmed but we are hearing a price of around £35,000, with 500 models produced of which 101 will be coming to the UK. Power will be 350 bhp from the Mountune developed 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo, so that should certainly test out the Focus RS’ RevoKnuckle front-suspension and Quaife LSD. The colour will be matt black matched with lightweight racing seats, lowered and stiffened suspension, black wheels wearing track-focused tyres and several limited-edition decals including a numbered plaque inside. This sounds very much like Ford’s riposte to Renault’s Megane R26.R, but with a much bigger punch.
No sign of an official word from Ford yet, although we understand that the Focus RS500 was down in the Geneva layout notes and didn’t turn up, so presumably the car wasn’t finished in time to make a big splash.
