Alfa 4C Concept gets ready to shine at Frankfurt

Alfa’s 4C Concept will be exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month in a new and exclusive ‘fluid metal’ exterior colour that is said to enhance the smooth and sinuous lines of the car.

Following its international public debut at the Geneva Motor Show last April, the 4C Concept has moved from a design study to become a fully working prototype, complete with engine and running gear. Vehicle weight has been confirmed at around 850kg, and with the engine delivering more than 200 bhp the 4C’s power to weight ratio exceeds 235 bhp/tonne.

Looking every bit the Italian-Elise, the 4C Concept is a two-seat, rear-wheel drive coupé with a mid-mounted engine – all packed within a length of approximately 4 metres and a wheelbase of less than 2.4 metres.

It makes use of technology and materials first seen on the Alfa 8C Competizione – carbon, aluminium, rear-wheel drive – and technology from Alfa Romeo models currently on sale including the 1750 turbo petrol engine with direct injection, the ALFA TCT twin dry clutch transmission, and the best elements of Alfa’s DNA technology including the DNA dynamic control selector.

Also on display on the Alfa Romeo stand will be an Alfa Giulietta equipped with the next generation ALFA TCT twin dual dry clutch semi-automatic transmission, and the MiTo with two new engines – the 85bhp 0.9 TwinAir TB and a new 85bhp 1.3 JTDM.
