Mercedes toughens up the S-Class with an AMG Sport Edition

Have you ever thought the Mercedes-Benz S-Class needed more ‘swagger’? Or perhaps a more Gangsta-look when cruising to the company board meeting? Me neither, but there’s clearly a market for such a variant because Mercedes has decided to offer an AMG Sport Edition of its venerable limousine.

Based on the comprehensively equipped standard S-Class, the new S 350 BlueTEC AMG Sport Edition adds AMG body styling with front and rear aprons plus subtle sill extensions, elegant 20” AMG alloy wheels in a five-twin-spoke design, painted brake callipers with Mercedes-Benz lettering and an electric panoramic glass sunroof with illuminated door sills.

Inside you’ll find, black ash wood trim, a wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel, studded sports pedals finished in stainless steel, and AMG-branded floor mats.

Since you’ve presumably sent the driver his P45, they’ve been kind enough to provide some complimentary driver aids including a reversing camera and Keyless Go, while the Harmon Kardon Front Seat Entertainment, complete with Split View enables the COMAND multimedia system to display different content for driver and front passenger. For those moments when the ICE is on show (or when cruising late at night), there are 14 high-performance speakers with additional amplifiers, a set of headphones, remote control clicker and a DAB digital radio.

If that all sounds a bit over the top for an S-Class, fear not, you’ll be able to slip it through on the company expense account for as little as £69,995 on the road. And with a helping hand from Mercedes-Benz finance, it could all be yours (or the finance house’s) for just £499 per month.
