Geneva in pictures: The Oddballs

With so many truly awesome production cars revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, it’s been easy to overlook the less conventional (i.e. wacky) cars sharing floor space at Salon international de l’auto.

If you plan on visiting the show, make time to search some of these oddballs out.

Roding Roadster

With a name like Roding, it just had to be German, but that also means it’s precision made by people with passion for performance cars. The 2-seat roadster is a carbon-fibre-aluminium hybrid design that can be switched between coupe and roadster via a removable roof panel. Powered by the six-cylinder turbocharged engine from the BMW M135i with 315bhp, the Roding accelerates from zero to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 178mph.

Peugeot Onyx Concept Car

The Onxy concept car is a two-seat sports car powered by a 600PS 3.7 litre V8 hybrid ‘HDi FAP’ engine. The inside uses recycled ‘newspaperWood’ wool and carbon, with a fuel gauge constructed from blown glass. Also on show are the lightweight Concept Bike Onyx and 3-wheel Concept Scooter Onyx – a a 2-in-1 supertrike that easily converts from upright urban mode to a tilt-forward sports mode.

Exagon Motors La Furtive eGT

Described as a Haute couture automobile, the Furtive eGT is an electric powered sports car, built together with Siemens, which has recorded a measures top speed of 149mph. With a total power output of 395bhp in a body weighing 1,650 kg, the Furtive eGT is capable of accelerating from zero to 62mph in just 3.5 seconds. The reason why it’s an oddball? It’s priced at €388,000 (£330,000).

Giugiaro Parcour XGT Roadster and Coupe

Built upon a Lamborghini Gallardo platform, the Giugiaro XGT-Roadster is a Baja-style rally cross sports coupe designed by Walter de Silva. It’s totally oddball, but strangely alluring at the same time. Just imagine how lively it would be propelled by the Gallardo’s 542bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine.
