BMW’s Frankfurt motor show stand will be busy one next month – joining the production version of its i8 hybrid supercar the team at M Performance Parts will be showcasing a fully-accessorised version of the new 4 Series Coupé.
If there’s room, we might even see the 2014 M3/M4, although we’d previously heard BMW might debut this at a separate event.
But for some, an M Performance Parts car might be all the 4 Series they ever need. BMW now offers a power kit for the 420d (+16bhp and 40Nm of torque), 430d (+27bhp and 40Nm) and 435i, which now delivers 335bhp (+34bhp) and a buxom 332lb-ft of torque (up 50Nm to 450Nm).
BMW claim the increased power and performance is delivered without affecting fuel consumption and emission levels, but that’s about the only aspect which doesn’t increase with these upgrades.
Fancy some more noise? There’s a BMW M Performance silencer system available for the 428i and 435i – they’ll even embellish the tailpipes in chrome (for the 428i) or in carbon on the BMW 435i.
Traction can be enhanced by the BMW M Performance limited-slip differential, while stopping power can be improved with the BMW M Performance brake system – available with red, yellow or orange calipers.
Wheels are another great way of showing the 4 Series’ increased prowess, this time in 20-inch format with either the typical BMW M Performance bi-colour look, or in two new designs.
Aesthetically, customers can choose from a black BMW kidney grille, a diffuser insert for the rear apron, side sill foils, carbon front splitters, mirror caps and rear spoiler – all with the requisite M Performance inscription.
Inside there’s the usual BMW M Performance sports steering wheel with red central marking, Race Display in 12 o’clock position as well as a carbon or Alcantara finish for the gear lever, handbrake handle and gear selector switch of the automatic transmission.
Of course you could just wait and see what the M4 Coupé has to offer – we expect further news on that by the end of this week.
