In preparation for next year’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Porsche have launched a web special that will take us behind the scenes as they develop their new LMP1 contender.
The sentiment of their mission is to “start from scratch” and “forget reminiscing”, which they promptly contradict with a video showcasing their past achievements. But how could they not? After 16 overall victories at Le Mans there’s a lot to be proud of, but likewise plenty has changed since their last factory outing in 1998.
Drivers already confirmed include Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and current Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1 driver Mark Webber. Webber will get his first taste of the new car in January (due to restrictions in his Red Bull contract), meanwhile the development programme moves on apace.
Back in June they revealed their new LMP1 sports prototype and now we’ve got a few snippets of it driving around their Weissach test track in the video above.
Watch the video, check out their microsite and keep a look out for more news in the coming months.
