BMW and Zagato have collaborated on a stylish new coupé which will premiere at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Although purely a one-off, the last car Zagato created for Villa d’Este was the Aston Martin V12 Zagato, which enters production later this year.
Compared to ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Quantum of Solace’, which bombarded us with images of Aston’s new (at the time) V12-engine DBS, the latest Bond film, ‘SkyFall’, seems much less of a car-fest for enthusiasts. Aston Martin’s 1964 DB5 is back, bearing the original number plate, BMT 216A, as used in the 007 classic, Goldfinger. But the DB5 looks like being the only Aston making an appearance this time, albeit as Bond’s personal set of wheels.
Well this is an unexpected bonus, and one which will brighten up the Diamond Jubilee celebrations for any of you non-royalists. There’s a great new addition to the list of ’20-places-to-visit-before-you-die’, following the opening earlier this week of Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari in Modena, Italy.
Designed by the late Jan Kaplický and architected by Andrea Morgante’s Shiro Studio, the new EUR14.2m museum is built on the site of Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace, making use of the former nineteenth century house and workshop of Ferrari’s father, with the addition of a new glass-fronted structure that curves around it.
I bet you didn’t see this coming. Volvo, all safe and sensible hooking up with the UK’s hottest boy band. But then times have changed at Volvo – the cars are still at the top-end in terms of active and passive road safety, but they’re also great fun to drive, especially the latest V60/S60 models.
Picture this, it’s a familiar problem – you’ve popped down to your local Mercedes-Benz dealer to book your C-Class in for a service and as you’re waiting in the showroom you wander over to a display cabinet to check out the latest accessories.
What’s this? ‘Mercedes-Benz Perfume. The first fragrance for men’. A quick sniff under your armpits confirms there’s a little too much ‘eau’ in your B.O. and you remember that you’re down to the last few squirts of 212 Sexy Men, so you whip out your credit card and head on over to Harry in Parts for a quick top-up of your lurvve potion..
The BMW brand has been synonymous with films ever since the groundbreaking ‘The Hire’ film series of 2001 and 2002, which ignored convention and created the phenomenon now known as online films.
