Bentley adds Mulliner design package to its Supersports Convertible ISR

Earlier this year if you remember, Finland’s four-time world rally champion Juha Kankkunen drove a Bentley Continental Supersports convertible at 205.48 mph on the frozen Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland. Another day in the office you might say, for someone who’s lived on the edge of mortal danger throughout most of his career.

Geneva Watch: Bentley debuts Conti Supersports ‘Ice Speed Record’

As the 81st Geneva Motor Show gets underway, Bentley announces today its most potent and radically styled convertible ever – the 202mph (325km/h) Supersports ‘Ice Speed Record’ convertible.

Just a fortnight ago four-time World Rally Champion Juha Kankkunen, set a new World Ice Speed Record in a Bentley Continental Supersports convertible on the hazardous frozen waters of the Baltic Sea, off the coast of Finland. He reached a breathtaking 205.48 mph (330.695 km/h) in the Conti Supersports, breaking his own 2007 record of 199.83 mph (321.6 km/h) set in a Continental GT coupe at the same location.

Geneva Watch: MANSORY produce a custom bike for Veyron owners

Geneva would not be complete without a show car from German tuner and manufacturer MANSORY. Best known for the sheer extravagance of their work and the perfectionism of founder and company boss Kourosh Mansory, their cars have sometimes become known for their questionable taste rather than sheer desirability. MANSORY build bespoke products for their wealthy customers, whose personal taste sometimes reflects their unique view of the world..

Bentley fuels our leather fetish

Who would have predicted more than 50 years ago, that in 2011 we’d still revere a material made from the hide of dead cows? Presumably not E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, makers of Nylon, Nomex and Kevlar – but then some things are irreplacable, like Bentley, who together with their luxury leather partner Ettinger have devised a range of modern must-have personal accessories to be launched at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Bentley shatters World Ice Speed Record

It says a lot about Bentley as a brand that in the space of 7 days we’ve been talking about their association with the new James Bond novel, Carte Blanche, then just a few days later their achievement in setting a new World Ice Speed Record. How many car companies can you say that about?

Bentley throw down the gauntlet to Aston Martin

We’ve been waiting an age for the next Bond Film #23, which had been delayed as MGM Studios sorted out their finances following several box office flops and the general market slump in DVD sales. Thankfully MGM and EON Productions were able to confirm the film’s go-ahead last month, with a release date in November 2012.

Brief Review: Pure Bentley iPad App

I’ve been taking a look at Bentley’s new iPad app that was launched earlier today. During the past month there’s been a bounty of iPad apps released by car makers, some of them acting as product showcases whilst others provide a more multi-media form of their customer magazine. If you’ve got yourself an iPad, then these apps are a great way to explore the many features of your new gadget whilst exploring some of your favourite cars.

Spare a thought for the ‘uncool’ car makers

Aston Martin were today announced as the coolest brand in the UK, outdoing Apple’s iPhone which held the top spot last year. The index was drawn up from a potential list of more than 10,000 brands which are whittled down and rated by a panel of 35 ‘style-experts’, before 2,100 members of the public provided their ratings.
