Mazda3 MPS gains more visual appeal

There’s little doubt about the 256bhp Mazda3 MPS’ main appeal in a sector awash with super-hatches. At £23,995 the MPS scores well in the value-for-money stakes against the £23,495 246bhp Ford Focus ST – itself something of a bargain, the £26,995 276bhp Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR and the £25,560 207bhp Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Mazda previews its all-new CX-5 Crossover SUV

I’m sure I’m not alone in finding Mazda’s tech-speak a little challenging to decipher. We’ve become so used to such all-encompassing phrases such as Efficient Dynamics, Intelligent Performance and ECOnetic that initially Mazda’s SKYACTIV has me wondering if the Japanese car maker has invented some form of anti-gravitational device. And how does SKYACTIV fit with ZOOM-ZOOM? Or is that SO last decade?

Mazda’s new compact SUV to be named CX-5

Mazda announced today that its all-new compact crossover SUV, which is scheduled to launch in the UK in 2012, will be called the Mazda CX-5. The new CX-5 is based on Mazda MINAGI concept car, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year and will be shown at the New York International Auto Show that opens in a few days time (April 20, 2011).
