I predicted last week that the launch of the Volvo V40 will be a more significant event for most of us than Ferrari’s F620, which is officially unveiled tomorrow.

Frankfurt 2011: Volvo gives an insight into the future with ‘Concept You’

Following on from the reveal of the Concept Universe earlier in the year, the Frankfurt Motorshow marks the debut of an evolution to the Concept Universe now called ‘Concept You’ – and gives another insight into the future design and technology of Volvo’s Cars. Both concept cars are being used as design studies to obtain input from the global car buying public to find the ultimate design of the next large saloon from Volvo.

It’s such a refreshing change from some of the mumbo-jumbo advertising we so often see, for a brand to just come out and tell it how it is. This print advert for the fuel retailer Q8 was produced by Ogilvy & Mather in Sweden and describes in the simplest way possible just exactly why drivers should visit their outlets.

Driven: BMW’s 2011 X3 xDrive20d SE

It seems fortuitous that BMW chose a snowy Austria for the UK launch of its new 2011 X3, in fact the timing couldn’t have been any more perfect. As I write this, much of the UK is gripped by the most wintry November conditions in recent memory, Ideal for the four-wheel-drive SUV sector that BMW has targeted with its X3. But of course four-wheel-drive is only as useful as the traction available to a car’s tyres, so BMW also chose last week’s X3 launch to reveal its new range of winter-tyre packages available on all BMW and MINI models.
