The Twelve Most Valuable Automotive Brands of 2012

Earlier this week, Interbrand, one of the world’s largest branding consultancies, published its 2012 review of ‘Top 100 Brands’. It makes interesting reading, not least because this is the first time Facebook joins the list following its controversial IPO in May.

But of course we’re interested in the Automotive brands and what it tells us about sector’s recovery, following the unprecedented slump in 2009/10.

Lotus appoints rapper Swizz Beatz as its new Vice President of Creative Design

Judging from the reaction on Lotus Cars’ facebook page this afternoon, news of their latest executive appointment has come as a bit of a shock. Lotus announced in a cryptic email that “..they had a new creative man on board — BUT can you guess who this particular international man of mystery is?” Well it’s none other than US record producer, rapper and all-round hip-hop star, Swizz Beatz.

Mercedes launches a social-media race

Mercedes-Benz USA has launched a Tweet Race to the 45th Super bowl in what the company describes as a leap of faith into social media. The destination of the race is the Super Bowl on Feb 6 next year, the means of travel is by Mercedes-Benz, the fuel to get there is tweets by the gallon. The prize is a brand-new 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-class Coupe.

After much legal wrangling, Collins has now been dismissed from his white Stig role ahead of his publication of a tell-all book on life behind the distinctive Simpson helmet, whilst all the while Top Gear executives begin to conjure up who should be given the role of Stig #3.
