Audi commemorates Pikes Peak with a special RS 5

The 90th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb gets underway in Colorado this weekend, postponed from its original July 8th date by the devastating Waldo Canyon fires which brought havoc and destruction to the region. And Audi USA has cooked up something special to mark 25 years since its most dominant victory.

Created in 1988 by former Michèle Mouton, the only female WRC event winner, and Fredrik Johnsson, the Race of Champions has become the most eagerly-anticipated after party of the motorsport season. This year’s event, run on the 3rd and 4th December, returned to Dusseldorf’s ESPRIT Arena, the venue where relative newcomer Felipe Albuquerque took the overall ‘Champion of Champions’ cup in 2010.

Exactly 30 years after almost achieving what would have been one of the greatest World Rally Championship victories of all time, Walter Röhrl, his co-driver Christian Geistdörfer and their Porsche 911 SC will be reunited between April 5 – 10, for the 2011 Targa Tasmania, a gruelling road rally held over 2,000km of roads on the island of Tasmania, off the south-east coast of Australia.
