COMPETITION – Win tickets to the 2010 Silverstone Classic

We’ve been giving away tickets to the Silverstone Classic for the past 3 years and in that time it’s got bigger, better and more fun – so much so that the organisers now proudly proclaim it as “‘the world’s biggest classic racing festival”.

2010 is set to be the best yet, with more racing, more classic cars, more live music and more to see and do both on and off-track for the whole family.

On-track is a stellar line-up of races and this will be proper classic racing, not theatre, as 1000 hard-charging racers do battle in 800 cars spanning seven decades of motor racing heritage. In total, 23 races will cover Grand Prix cars, sports, GT, saloon and single-seater racing cars from 1930 to the 1990s.

Music

Rick Parfitt Jnr and Jedward are some of the headline acts performing in concert during the event.

Live music will again be a big feature of the Silverstone Classic in 2010, with major concerts on the evenings of both Friday (23 July) and Saturday (24 July).

Entry to both concerts will be included within the circuit admission charge.

Headline acts include Yardbirds, Dr Feelgood, Bitter Things, Spencer Kennedy, Rick Parfitt Jnr, YouTube phenomenon Danyl Johnson, Ruth Lorenzo and John Paul Henry Daniel Richard Grimes and Edward Peter Anthony Kevin Patrick Grimes… better known as Jedward. Yikes!

Celebrity Challenge

On Friday evening, a very special Silverstone Classic Celebrity Challenge race will feature celebrities from the worlds of radio, TV, music and entertainment racing head-to-head to raise funds for the Bobby Moore Fund. The stars will climb into a fleet of specially race-prepared 500 Abarths and take to the famous Silverstone Historic Grand Prix circuit in a half-hour race including a Le Mans-style pit-stop and driver change

BBC Radio 2 DJ Richard Allinson and Producer Paul O'Duffy take their ARDS tests, ready for the Fiat 500 Abarth Celebrity Challenge race.

Along with the racing and rocking, Silverstone will be packed with off-track activities and attractions to make it a weekend to suit the whole family.

Over 100 car clubs displaying 6000 privately owned classic cars will pack out the infield, while new for 2010 is an area dedicated to hot-rods. Street car shoot-outs and Group B rally cars of the early 1980s will add to the sheer diversity of attractions. Funfairs, shopping malls, hot-air balloon fly-outs and air displays are all part of the show.

Fans of two-wheel action have not been forgotten, either, as motorbikes will play a big part in the Silverstone Classic, with the legendary Harley-Davidson marque at the heart of the two-wheel attractions.

The Competition Question
